From the Wild to the Workplace: A Walk and Workshop at the Columbus Zoo.
Step out of the office and into nature.
Workplaces and zoos have more in common than we’d like to admit. Structures built with boundaries, systems shaped by inequity, and histories that demand deeper reflection. But just as zoos have evolved from cages to conservation, we too can rethink how we build workplaces where people, equity, and inclusion thrive.
Join us for a workshop and walk at the Columbus Zoo, led by Sathu Alagappan, a leader focused on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
We’ll begin with a guided walk through the zoo, using the environment around us as a lens to explore power, privilege, and oppression, both in nature and in our workplaces.
Then, we’ll take things a step further with an interactive workshop where we’ll turn the Columbus Zoo itself into a live case study. We’ll unpack hard truths, discuss actionable strategies, and reimagine what it means to build truly inclusive spaces, both in and outside of work.
