About this event

Join us in an interactive discussion on Linkage, a SHRM companies’ new book, In Her Own Voice: A Woman's Rise to CEO: Overcoming Hurdles to Change the Face of Leadership written by Jennifer McCollum. Jennifer is the former CEO of Linkage, a global leadership development firm.

In this book, it shares research into the specific hurdles facing women in business. It offers advice and empowerment for any woman striving to advance in her career and any organization ready to improve gender equity. 'Whether we’re contending with our own inner critic, being expected to prove our value time and again, or navigating the often-intimidating world of negotiating for ourselves, women today still have unique obstacles as we advance our careers—but they need not become roadblocks.' This book shows readers how they can overcome these obstacles with very specific and actionable steps such as quieting your inner critic, discarding biases, building confidence, gaining clarity about the future, and more.

This book club will be a 90-minute interactive zoom session which will include breakout room discussions. We'll cover the key themes of the book including the 7 hurdles to advancement and the competencies to scale them, with a focus on the uber hurdle, our Inner critic. During our time, we will create space for reflection and discussion around our own inner critic by learning how to identify our triggers and coach our inner critic to a compassionate center. This session will also be recorded and shared afterwards.

For the first 25 people that RSVP, you will get an Amazon gift card to purchase the book.
