May 16, 2024, 9:00 – 10:30 PM (UTC)
For May we'll be focusing on mental health in the workplace. We will share an article ahead of time for members to read and open up the discussion to an AMA-style with practical tactics and strategies for creating healthier and inclusive workplaces for all populations.
Emily is a returning speaker and has shared with our members about her lived experience with physical disability and how we can bring more healing and well-being into our personal and professional lives. Last summer we shared initiatives for encouraging authenticity in the workplace, personal strategies for taking care of ourselves as culture professionals, and tactical tips for being more inclusive in the workplace. At this workshop, we will continue sharing practical tactics and strategies for creating healthier and inclusive workplaces for all populations.
In advance of the May book club, we ask members to read a history of emotional intelligence from the April 2024 Psychology Today magazine. It’s a long feature with various parts that members are welcome to read, but what we would like to mandate reading ahead of the session is a page overview of emotional intelligence and how it fits in with mental health. Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes! You can find it here: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/articles/202403/the-truth-about-emotional-intelligence.
You can learn more about Emily through a recent podcast she did with the Page Society on finding her voice and through her LA Times article on disability and dating.
