About this event

Are you passionate about organizational culture and improving the world by improving the places we work?

The Culture First - San Antonio chapter is excited to announce our first event! In this virtual introductory session, we will cover the following:

1. What does it mean to be Culture First?

For organizations to grow and thrive, the world of work has to work better for People. Being ‘Culture First’ is about recognizing this simple truth and then finding ways to act on it. It’s easier said than done, but we’ve found something that helps tremendously – working through issues as a community! In this session, you will hear from Craig Forman, Lead People Scientist at Culture Amp, on how to create a community within an organization to drive culture forward.

2. The purpose and mission of this chapter

To improve the world by improving the places we work. We are looking to build a real community of people who are curious about learning more about culture and want to be the change we wish to see in the world of work by creating more culture-first or people-first organizations. This culture work is not easy and we need each other.

3. Who we are building this community for?

Not just HR professionals! Shaping culture within our organizations is not just for the folks in HR. Culture belongs to everyone. No matter your role, you can be a culture influencer in your organization. This also isn’t just for executives. Maybe you’re the head of a department or your a specialized unit. Maybe you manage a small team. Remember, each team has its own culture and norms under a larger culture. Maybe you work for a corporation or maybe you work at a local startup. This community can support you regardless.

4. Our goals as a chapter

We will cover what we are hoping to achieve as a community as this chapter is at its infancy and constantly evolving. We are looking to local culture champions to help influence the direction in which we want this community headed. Whatever needs you may have, we will work on solving them together and support each other. Building Culture First organizations is full of ups and downs, so let's build a community to support one another and meet your specific needs.

5. Participant support session

This will be a less structured, engaging way to connect with others and gain group support around an organizational culture challenge that you may be facing. It's a safe space to provide personal challenges and gain group support. We hope you will leave with resources, connections, tips & tricks, and much more!

About Culture First:

As People Geeks, we share a collective passion for improving our workplaces by putting culture first. However, this task is not easy, and going it alone limits our chances of success. However, if we can organize and harness our collective passion, our chances for success are greatly increased.

With this in mind, Culture Amp is supporting the development and growth of regionally led Culture First chapters. The goal is to empower local People Geek Communities worldwide to connect, learn, and support one another in creating the change that we want to see in the world!
