As companies move forward into this unprecedented future of work, human-centered design can provide structure and focus for assessing needs, building solutions, adapting business models, and thriving over the long term. According to Deloitte, human-centered design places people at the center of the process of exploring and creating solutions. For businesses, this means listening to people—whether customers, employees, or partners—and observing their behavior to understand what they need or want and why people might embrace a new product, process, or service.
Our featured experts, Kalina Donald of Living Brand Result and Anthony Vaughan of Startup EX, are passionate proponents of people in the workplace. They consult with companies to design strong and effective workplaces with people at the center, and where all facets of work are considered.

C-Change Learning and Development
Founder and People Maximizer
With a learning and development career honed over decades, Laura has realized a true passion for helping people uncover their strengths and talents. Laura has led the learning function in various industries including manufacturing, travel, and technology. Her work has her building learning and development strategy, developing subject matter experts, and creating and designing learning programs. However, her true love is in the delivery, whether in-person or virtual, where she can celebrate her trainees’ learning success and their “aha moments”. She also finds energy and joy in working one-on-one with learners via coaching and mentoring.
Through the years of implementing people-centered learning strategies, Laura has come to understand the true value of developing the soft skills (or as she prefers to call them, “Power Sills”) side of business. It is her firm belief that developing these skills is the way to meet the business needs of the future, and to solve the employee engagement crisis. In her work, Laura has excelled at bringing these skills to leaders and their teams, with demonstrable results in the workplace. She has worked with groups from the very large to one-on-one and has brought her unique blend of warmth and humour to each training interaction.
Laura is and entrepreneur, trainer, facilitator, coach, mentor, and the author of It's Not Them, It's You: Why employees "break up" with their managers and what to do about it.
