Integrating Trauma-Informed Approaches to Facilitate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

About this event

In this transformative workshop, we will explore the critical intersection of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) with systemic trauma and how trauma-aware/sensitive/informed/responsive approaches can facilitate DEI initiatives. DEI work, while essential for creating equitable and inclusive environments, can inherently trigger individuals due to the conditioning formed by the systems of power and oppression in the society. Therefore, without a trauma-sensitive approach, DEI efforts may be ineffective, counterproductive, or even unsafe. At the same time, trauma informed approaches can preserve and multiply the value of the intention of such initiatives and increase the likelihood of the impact that was intended.

Key Topics:

- Systemic trauma

- Intersectionality

- Neurophysiology of Trauma

- Unconscious Bias

- The impact of trauma-awareness/sensitive/informed/responsive approaches

With real life examples, this workshop will empower you to create safer, more effective DEI initiatives that truly resonate and drive meaningful change by harnessing the power of trauma-awareness.

The workshop is facilitated by Sarah Giencke and Natalia Bayurova, Chapter Leads for Culture First's recently launched GLOBAL TRAUMA CHAPTER. (click the link to join the chapter)

Sarah and Natalia recently facilitated a webinar for the Culture First Global Chapter -  "What's Trauma got to do with it?" (Click the link to access the recording). The webinar covered the profound impact of trauma awareness and the need for a trauma-informed approach within the workplace.

Our workshop is going to take this discussion forward and explore how the trauma-sensitive approach can enhance DEI work within the professional environment.

This is a co-hosted event with Culture First Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Pune Chapters.
